.....Africa's Renaissance

It is quite astounding that Africa which was once viewed by the rest of the world, as a dark continent owing to the fact that very little was know about it....Although such impression of Africa being dark can't really be taken fully into cognizance..The Europeans who first arrived at Africa's shores gave such impression but a more detailed and microscopic look at our history shows that such assertions may not be truly right. Egypt for instance is still known as the cradle of civilization.

Hieroglyphs an ancient Egyptian form of writing dates back as far as the 13th century, While the Portuguese who were the first to sail to Africa only did so in 15th century.. Slave trade then heightened in the 17th century when European farmers needed more Man power labour in their sugar cane plantations.. Slave trade obviously defined Africa status in the world stage as marked by the "Masters and servants " terminology.. The Berlin conference of 1884/1885 which was the Scrabble for Africa give birth to a sophisticated form of colonialism that increased European activities in Africa and sadly tried to erode ,most form of Africa autonomy and self governance.. Even after the wave of independence in late 50s and early 60s of many Africa states, A new form of colonialism emerge in form of Neo colonialism..After centuries and decades of such subservient role ,Africa is now being espoused greatly by a wind positive change in culture music politics and economy, Africa is now the new frontier for doing business has economic growth in the last grown largely to almost 6 percent..Africa's projection now other than ever has a more befitting distinction far from that perceived by the Masters and servants view propelled by colonialists..For so long our stories has not been told by us Africans but by those who religion and chain bonded us for centuries. The mileage wasn't short in any stretch. Africa is now the new cool..More than ever, even Africa in the Diaspora are proud to be associated with their ancestry..In movies such change are largely visible..The first ever Black super hero movie , Blank panter premiered all over the world recently with great acclaimed from movie fanatics alike, the movie depicts Africa culture in different variations though I must add subtly..

For instance The fictional kingdom Wakanda was protected by a tribe of warriors disguised as farmers which can be traced to modern day Basotho in Lesotho, Also the gold ring wore around the neck of a character Dora milaje is of Ndebele tribe in south Africa and so on..In music Africa is continually bridging the gap, In 2017 at the MOBO award Wizkid an artist who rose from the neighborhood of ojuheleba in modern day Lagos to state Nigeria, beat the likes of Jay z Beyonce Drake and Cardi B to the award of Best Artist 2017, it was by no means a small feet and a milestone for music in Africa let alone Nigeria..His feature on a song in Drake's last album also gave Wizkid a Grammy nomination.. The likes of Davido keep racking up Multi million deals with SONY music..But at the fore of such beautiful Africa exploits, The migrants crisis in it's ugliness heightened in 2017..It's a sordid story of young disillusioned and disgruntled Africans who risk both their lives and that of their kids to cross the Mediterranean sea into Europe...scores of dead bodies where recovered almost on a daily basis..The search for greener pastures away from their homes family and friends is fueled by incessant corruption and ineptitude of Africa leaders..At the center of such humanitarian crisis, President Trump though allegedly labelled Africans and Haitians has People from Shithole countries.. A Remark that threw wide spread condemnation by some Africa leaders and Haitians... However nothing can blight Africans road to the global stage..I believe strongly that the next 10 to 20 Decades belongs to us Africa....We are now beginning to tell our stories and re write the course of our history through ingenuity and exceptional excellence, The global audience more than ever is paying great attention to our movies culture lifestyle and music..Africa Arise Motherland Let's take our place and eat amongst the Kings.
